Ironwood enterprise | A Long-Term Home for a Service Business

For service business owners

You've spent decades
building your business. I'm looking for the right one
to carry forward.

I want to acquire and personally own an established plumbing, HVAC, electrical or similar service business, preserve what makes it special, and build on it for the long term.

My father's plumbing business

Why this is personal to me

I grew up seeing what it takes to build a service company.

My father built a plumbing business from the ground up. I grew up seeing the long days, the customer calls, the problem-solving, and the responsibility that comes with running a service company well.

Today I am watching him think through succession: who eventually takes over, what happens to the employees, how customers are cared for, and what the next chapter looks like after years of ownership.

That is a big part of why I approach this differently. I am not looking at a business as a transaction alone. I am looking for one strong company I can own carefully, protect, and build on over time.

How I would approach the business

Learn first. Protect what works. Then build from there.

I am interested in the business because it already works. The first job of a new owner is to understand why.

You deal with me directly

I am the buyer, not a broker passing your information to someone else.

I am planning to stay

I am looking for one strong company to own for the long term, not something to turn around and resell.

Your team matters

The people who know the customers and the work are a big part of what makes the company valuable.

The handoff can fit your situation

You can leave quickly, stay for a period of time, keep a role, or step back gradually.

There is no single way to step back

We can talk about what you actually want.

Some owners are ready to sell and move on. Others want to stay involved while responsibilities shift. Some want a partner before they are ready to fully retire.

The point of the first conversation is not to push you toward one structure. It is to understand what would make sense for you.

Meet Sean

If we talk about your business, you will be talking to the person who wants to own it.

My background is in sales leadership, business development, negotiation and commercial growth. I would bring that experience to the company while learning from the people who already know the business well.

Ironwood is not a brokerage. I am looking for the right business for me to personally own.

Not ready to sell?

That is fine.

A lot of owners think about succession long before they do anything about it. You can talk with me now and decide later whether there is anything worth pursuing.

Is your business a fit?

I am looking for a strong service business with a good foundation.

The numbers matter, but I also care about the team, reputation, customers and what the owner wants from a transition.

What I am generally looking for

Business type

Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, fire and life safety, pest control, restoration, commercial cleaning and related service businesses.

Size

Generally around $1 million to $3 million in EBITDA. A strong business outside that range can still be worth a conversation.

Location

United States. I am flexible on geography for the right business and owner situation.

Business quality

Consistent performance, a good reputation, capable employees and a customer base that is not dependent on one relationship.

Transition

I am open to different timelines. Some owners want a clean exit. Others want to stay involved for a while.

Meet Sean

I am looking for one business I can take responsibility for and own for the long term.

This is personal for me because I have watched my own family work through the same questions many service business owners eventually face.

Why I care about succession

My father built a plumbing business. Now I am watching him think about what comes after ownership.

Growing up around that business gave me a close look at the work behind a service company. It also showed me how personal a business becomes after years of customers, employees and family sacrifice.

Today my father is thinking about succession. He is asking who eventually takes over, what happens to the team, and how he can step back without losing what he spent years building.

That experience is one of the main reasons I am pursuing this. I want to be the kind of next owner I would want my own father to find.

What I bring

Commercial experience, with respect for the people who know the business best.

My background includes sales leadership, business development, negotiation, executive advisory and growth strategy. I have also negotiated more than $100 million in real estate transaction volume.

I would use that experience where it helps, but I would not walk into a good company assuming everything needs to change.

I am the buyer. Ironwood is not a brokerage representing someone else.
